Laziness The Good and the Bad and how did it evolve

Laziness

what is laziness

the quality of being unwilling to work or use energy; idleness.

now my friends here start the fun part

Laziness is seen as a bad thing by everyone in our society and well it has become bad nowadays, laziness leads to a lot of problems

a simple google search and you will find a lot of those disadvantages,

but shouldn't we take a step back and get out of the mindset that society has set for us and think for ourselves.

Is laziness really bad? and if yes

Why does it still exist after millions of years of evolution?

if it was so bad and so useless for our survival why did it not get eliminated

laziness is an evolutionary adaptation

real reasons and studies are mentioned ahead scroll down to read more

let's say there were 3 types of people in the world

1 lazy

2 very active

3 those who were somewhat in the middle

now being lazy nowadays leads to obesity and various other problems but in prehistoric times that was hardly the problem. But going hungry for days was not a very rare occurrence, And here comes laziness being an advantage.

We are inherently lazy because if for example 2 similar guys 1 very active tends to waste energy, and when the time comes for them to use said energy

Be it for hunting food or running away from predators, the lazy person will definitely have more energy when it comes to survival in general

Now you might be thinking.. yeah it might make sense technically but is it true ???

is laziness really a boon not a bane

Some good things about laziness

  1. less chance of experiencing burnout
  2. more likely to be well rested
  3. Greater focus on long-term goals
  4. Improved efficiency
  5. less time is wasted while doing a task
  6. higher Emotional quotient

what are the disadvantages of being lazy?

  1. obesity
  2. not being punctual

Why did we evolve laziness?

scientists from the University of British Columbia which is a university in Canada claim that our society encourages people to be more physically active but according to the studies they conducted

people are hardwired to be lazy this phenomenon was named the exercise paradox.

In a study done by the researchers, a group of young adults was given control over a character in a game and they had to move the character between two choices , one being active and the other a lazy choice

after the study it was found participants were generally faster at moving toward the active pictures and away from lazy pictures, but brain-activity readouts called electroencephalograms (EEGs) revealed the latter required their brains to work much harder

why did this kind of behavior develop?

the simple answer to this question lies in the fact even if humans are animals with the greatest stamina in the animal kingdom but there is still a limit to it.

if you have watched the discovery channel or the national geographic channel about wild animals, especially carnivores you would have noticed that they are sleeping for more than half the day and are active only when they want to hunt

so what do we call this type of behavior???

are the lions being lazy?

Yes and NO, see yes the lions are being lazy and that is the evolution I am talking about. Here lions are at the top of their food chain so they can afford to be lazy. and they do that to conserve energy

all the animals who are somewhat in the middle of the food chain like us humans(before the agricultural revolution we were hunters and gatherers and hence in the middle of the food chain) do not have the luxury of being as lazy as a lion, but being hyperactive in a world where there is danger at every corner it can be a death sentence to those who were exhausted when the disaster struck. so those who were lazy but alert enough to notice ran and saved themselves from predators or were able to hunt, and those who were hyperactive and exhausted died and did not leave any descendants to carry their hyperactive gene

Maybe such people would have been the most successful people in today's predator-less Human society but who knows as they are long gone and all humanity has left are the people like US!!

Skeletal Muscle Relaxatants and reversal agents

Skeletal Muscle Relaxants So we have 2 types of muscle relaxants:- Those which work on the CNS ( Central ) those who work on the muscle and their NM receptors (peripheral) Central Muscle Relaxant So to use center in material relaxants we need a drug which stimulates the receptors present in the CNS and such receptors are          GABA a receptors – Diazepam      GABA b   receptors --- Baclofen      alpha 2 receptors(acts like break )- t izanidine      Another group of centrally acting muscle relaxants are those which act by inhibiting the polysynaptic reflexes examples - Mephensin ,Chlorzoxazone, thiocolchicoside   Peripheral muscle relaxants there are two types:-   directly acting and indirectly acting Directly acting :-   they directly act on the muscles d irectly acting-dantrolene :- works by blocking ryanodine receptor in endoplasmic reticulum from muscles Ryanodine receptor...

How to reduce Blood Pressure!?

How to lower blood pressure   There are many ways to lower blood pressure but they are mostly divided into 2 major categories, and these are with medication and without medication  The one without medications works by changing your lifestyle  It's very easy to bring blood pressure levels down to normal if you have mild hypertension but these medications may have some side effects, so if you can you should choose to follow the lifestyle way, as its a great role player and it can reduce the need to take medicine altogether or at least delay or reduce the amount of drug that  you need Lifestyle changes  If you are overweight or obese, try and lose some weight Usually extra weight leads to high BP(hypertension) And if you lose 1 kg of weight you can in general lower your BP by 1 to 2 mm of hg Reduce the consumption of salt               As most of us are well aware that sodium is pre...
